Gay was introduced to the work of Joseph Pilates while being a student client for her daughter, Christl, who was an apprentice at Pilates Seattle International. After Christl was certified Gay was ‘hooked’ and in her 50th year entered the Pilates Instructor Training Program at Pilates Seattle International. In 1999 Gay was certified under the direction of Master Instructor, Romana Kryzanowska, and is an instructor at Pilates Seattle International and Pilates Center Northwest. Gay received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the University of Washington in 1994. Other movement training enhancing Gay’s Pilates teaching is the Rubenfeld Synergy Method (RSM). The RSM practice has taught Gay the power and importance of the body-mind connection and how it facilitates healing, which goes hand-in-hand with Joseph Pilates’ method of holistic fitness. Adding to Gay’s teaching repertoire, she volunteers as an instructor of Centering Prayer, a form of meditation in the Christian Wisdom Tradition.
