Joy Beatty, PT, OMT, FAAOMPT
Joy received her bachelor of arts degree in 1994 from the University of Louisville. She continued her education at the University of Kentucky in Lexington and received her bachelor in health sciences in 1995 and a masters in physical therapy in 1997. While Joy was in PT school, she learned about the work of Joseph Pilates through her volunteer work with the Lexington Ballet. She realized the unique way Pilates combines strengthening with body awareness. Joy saw the potential to augment rehabilitation and increase her skills as a physical therapist. Studying the work of Joseph Pilates has helped her teach patients how to use their bodies properly while performing functional exercise. Ms. Beatty’s expertise in the world of physical therapy is the analysis of body mechanics for biking, running, and general evaluation of all sports. Joy is active in rock climbing, triathlon training, loves to travel, and balances the extreme physical challenges with her love of knitting.
